JULY 23: LOMBARD
The Lombard Cycling Classic is funded in part through a Local Tourism Grant from the Village of Lombard
Lombard – fun, technical, and almost new (well, since 2019)…
Bike racing has happened in Lombard, on and off, since 2001 — and this new iteration uses part of that original course to offer an exciting criterium that features both a narrow and technical back side and a wide-open sprint finish stretch.
In addition to an incredible race, Lombard will be hosting a Family Fun Ride, and raffling a bike to benefit Variety of Illinois. To learn more about the Lombard Cycling Classic (and what to do in Lombard besides racing your bike) click here.
The Final Stop of the DuPage Triple Crown
Lombard is the final stop for the Triple Crown and the place where we will be crowning our champions (literally) and bestowing the coveted jersey upon each winner, allowing them to sit in the throne of champions (this is for real and yes… it’s a big deal).
This three-day miniseries starts in Glen Ellyn (Tour of Lake Ellyn), travels to Winfield, and will conclude in Lombard with the crowning of the champions. The following five categories will have a chance for glory: Women 2/3, Women 4/5/Jr., Men 3, Men 2 (sponsored by ChemStation), Masters 40+. The omnium leader in Glen Ellyn, Winfield, and Lombard will receive. DuPage Triple Crown Jersey.
The final scoring, using Chicago Grit’s collective points scoring method, will determine the five final DuPage Triple Crown Champions – the rider in each of the five categories with the most collective points in the three DuPage races. The five winners will be crowned at the Lombard Cycling Classic, walking away with a cash prize and bragging rights as among the very best in competition.
