For 14 years, Chicago Grit has brought high-speed criterium racing to neighborhoods across Chicagoland. Each course and town is unique, and our races are spectator-friendly with local vendors, music, block parties, and festivals.

In 2026 we’ll be celebrating 14 years of racing in and around Chicagoland!

This year we’ll have 10 races in 10 days, returning to our new Fulton Market course (riding under the “L”).

WHY RACE CHICAGO GRIT?

If you’re even reading this it’s because you like bikes, and you like to race. Criteriums (crits) are raced on short courses, typically less than a mile. While most local crits are raced in parking lots or obscure corners of the city no one knew existed, Chicago Grit crits are raced in the middle of town in the best communities in Chicagoland! Our communities are spectacular and work hard every year to host epic events.

A TRUE TEST OF GRIT AND DETERMINATION…

Chicago Grit brings together the strongest riders – nationally and internationally – for 10 days of grueling competition. Earning a jersey is truly a remarkable feat, and taking the omnium win is legendary.

Day 1 begins with the toughest course, aka: Leg Breaker Hill. This course is perfect for the breakaway specialist/puncheur.

New in 2023, Brookfield quickly became a rider favorite! Near 180 degree turns and a long straightaway to the finish = surge-filled races and epic breakaways.

Home to the second oldest velodrome in the country, Northbrook is a haven for cyclists! This course is technical, with a gorgeous park in the center to rest and relax between races.
